This was AEP’s third year at the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau‘s Gobbler’s Ball and Invitational.

All registered Turkey Trot players and sponsors were invited to the Alpharetta Marriott for a charity auction, cocktail reception, and gambling.  This year, all eyes were on the dancers as they entertained for this “Golden Age of Venus”-themed gala.

The Turkey Trot Invitation at The Golf Club of Georgia has now been played 21 times. It has grown into a major fundraiser for the ACVB arts council and the Atlanta Community Food Bank.

The Turkey Trot Invitational has raised over $1.7 million and 600,000 pounds of food over the years!

Congratulations, ACVB!

Did you notice more moustaches and facial hair last month than usual?

It was likely thanks to Movember, an organization who encourages men around the world to stop shaving their faces to increase awareness and funds for men’s health.

Men sprouting awesome ‘staches become spokesmen for men’s health issues, specifically testicular and prostate cancer.  They also seek sponsorship for their efforts.  In 2011, Mo Bros and Mo Sistas raised 126.3 million dollars toward their cause.

The month is capped off by a killer party for the men, known as Mo Bros, and their supportive partners.  Awards are given out for Best Mo in Character, Miss Movember and Man of Movember 2012.

What a fun way to raise money and awareness for men’s health!

Did you catch the Today show on Thanksgiving?  If so, you may have seen some of our pictures!

Atlanta Event Photography photographed Monica Sandoval, the 17-year-old cancer patient who won a nationwide contest to design a new Aflac holiday duck. Sales of the duck benefit pediatric cancer research. Monica won a trip to New York City to see the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and was interviewed on the Today show.

Our pictures even made an appearance in Times Square!

Congratulations, Monica!

On October 4th, 2012, volunteers from ARAMARK partnered with the Atlanta Mission to create the ARAMARK Building Community Opportunity Zone at The Shepherd’s Inn.

The purpose of this building is to provide ongoing nutrition and wellness resources for members of the Atlanta homeless community. Employee volunteers from ARAMARK transformed an underused lot into a dedicated recreation and fitness area, and also worked toward revitalizing a community garden that previous ARAMARK volunteers created.

What a great way for ARAMARK to give back to the community!

Cox Conserves Heroes recognizes local environmental volunteers and makes donations to local nonprofits on their behalf.

The national program takes place in cities across the country.  Volunteers are nominated by the public, which then votes for their favorite. It’s a great way for the public to recognize the unsung heroes in their communities and for Cox to find worthy, local causes! This year’s winner Donna Shearer won $10,000 for her organization, Save Georgia’s Hemlocks. Congratulations, Donna!
